DTN COMMENTS: All is quiet in cattle feeding country this morning, so
far no bids or asking prices have been renewed. A light to moderate trade
took place in the North on Tuesday and light scattered business took
place yesterday, so far this week, Northern dressed deals have had a
fairly wide range of $392 to $401, mostly $400, $14 higher than the prior
week's weighted averages. Southern live sales have been lighter and have
been marked at mostly $255 to $256, $9 to $10 higher than the previous
week's weighted averages. It is looking like the bulk of business could
essentially be completed for the week, but some light movement here and
there is not out of the question. Beef cutouts are expected to be lower
with light to moderate box movement.
For the period ending April 23, net beef sales of 13,800 MT for 2026 were
down 10 percent from the previous week and 3 percent from the prior 4-
week average. Increases were primarily for South Korea (6,200 MT), Japan
(3,100 MT), Hong Kong (1,300 MT), Taiwan (1,000 MT), and Mexico (800 MT).
Exports of 12,300 MT were down 3 percent from the previous week and 8
percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to
South Korea (3,800 MT), Japan (3,700 MT), Hong Kong (1,300 MT), Taiwan
(1,100 MT), and Mexico (1,100 MT).
